Panasonic opened their first showroom in Doha 18 years ago and still regarded as one of the best brands in town. The brand has to be powerful to make its customer relate to it and make them loyal. It should also be recognized by a non-customer or someone who knows the brand but hasn’t used it.
Previously, Panasonic was known as National and it was arguably the first well-known brand of Japanese electronics founded in 1918. In Doha, Qatar which came to global recognition only after hosting Asian Games in 2006 and now got the bid to host FIFA World Cup 2022, an entire area which is known as National as there is a showroom of Panasonic. Although, the government has plans to demolish this old Qatari market place and develop an art of state City Centre.
Similarly, in India there are many examples like Times of India Chowk in Lucknow, IFFCO Chowk in Gurgaon, Rajnigandha Chowk in Noida, etc.
“Brands are the stories that unite us all in a common purpose within an enterprise, and connect us with the people we serve on the outside. These brand stories give meaning to who we are and what we do.” – Mark Thomson
